Clayfibre planters now in stock!

7 April 2015 in Home & Garden Features

We are pleased to announce the launch of our faux lead Clayfibre range; a selection of planters we have worked hard to source following the withdrawal of Fibreclay from the market.

Gardeners and landscapers were left scratching their heads late last season when the owner of the Fibreclay brand temporarily ceased production of their planters.

The range had spearheaded the growth of the faux lead container market over recent years, (even leading to a spate of imitation materials that never quite matched up), so the gap in supply has been hard felt across the sector.

As such, we have recently invested a significant amount of time in sourcing suitable alternatives, solving the problem of where to turn to for excellent value, high quality and attractive lead style planters.

The result is our new Clayfibre range. Like Fibreclay, Clayfibre is manufactured using environmentally friendly materials and techniques that require only of 10% the energy used for ceramic and plastic equivalents. In our opinion, it boasts a superior finish that will weather naturally as the natural salts in the material are emitted.

Clayfibre is available in all of the classic designs including Chelsea, Mayfield, Windsor and Lionhead as well as being available in boxes, troughs, cylinders and tall squares.

As we have only just taken our first delivery, stocks are currently limitied, so please order as soon as possible to ensure availability.

The links below have pictures, dimensions, weights and further detail. Please note, we will be adding new models and sizes to the range shortly.

If you have any questions about the new stock, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone on 01435 860 888 or by using the contact us form.

Prices cut on Fibrestone planters!

26 February 2015 in Home & Garden Features

We have lowered the price of many models in our range of Fibrestone planters, including the classic faux lead Chelsea box. Fibrestone is fast moving, and with the price cuts will be moving quicker, so don’t hesitate in placing your order.

Fibrestone is a new and innovative material ideal for the production of garden planter containers. It provides all the benefits associated with fibreglass, such as durability, but offers a more solid feel courtesy of the significant amount of stone powder added during production. Unlike Fibreclay, Fibrestone does not emit salt so maintains a more consistent finish. These flower pots are available in the classic faux lead Chelsea range, and the black or white garden planters, perfect for creating a more contemporary look. These pots and planters are available in boxes, troughs, cylinder and tall tapered pots.

Below are just some of the planters lowered in price:

Faux Lead Chelsea Box 30cm – WAS £31.00 – NOW £20.00

Faux Lead Chelsea Box 40cm – WAS £62.00 – NOW £45.00

Contemporary Trough Black 73cm – WAS £50.00 – NOW £44.00

Planter Ranges Expanded

13 August 2013 in Home & Garden Features

To ensure that we keep pace with ever growing interest, we have added a number of new designs and materials to our range of garden planters.

Garden Planters can help transform the look of every home, garden and landscape, no matter how basic. Now there are even more styles to choose from, giving you even more opportunity to achieve your required look.

These are the new materials/ranges we have added:

Pictured: New planter materials, from left to right: Terracino, Stone Fibre, Ironstone & Faux Lead Cast Iron

Terracino

These pots are hand crafted in Terracotta before being fired in high-powered gas kilns to achieve a consistent colouration and outstanding durability. These are a favorite for the achieving a more traditional out door appearance. There are many different designs available in this material.

Stone Fibre

Stone Fibre is a composite of resin, stone powder and fibres. The simple, sleek designs of the range combine dramatically with the plain black colouring. Perfect when a more robust, yet still attractive planter is needed.

Iron Stone

If you require a classically styled planter that is practically indestructible, consider our exclusive Ironstone range. These pots are crafted from extremely dense, salt glazed stoneware fired to temperatures in excess of 1000 degrees centigrade.

Faux Lead Cast Iron

We have expanded our Faux Lead Chelsea range even further. It now includes models manufactured in cast iron, which is significantly heavier than the usual materials used for this look. As with all Cast Iron products they will develop their own patina over time and weather down, but can be restored at any time by priming and spraying or painting as required.

Each of the planter materials above comes in various designs and sizes to suit various needs. We have smaller planters suitable for herbs and giant designs used to plant trees.

New Oak Barrel Stock

26 June 2013 in Home & Garden Features

We have recently replenished our stock of high end french oak wine barrels, which are perfect for use as water butts, ornaments and pub/restaurant furniture.

The current batch is particulalry clean and features varied finishing touches, such as vineyard markings, willow straps, red daubing and supporting braces.

Oak Wine Barrels Oak Wine Barrels

In order to maintain quality, a typical French wine barrel can only be used for about five seasons. Some vineyards even restrict them to just one vintage, which is the case for the ones we use. Decommissioned models are suitable for a number of new purposes given the standards they are coopered to.

We have established a consistent, high end supply of these, facilitated by our long standing contacts in the timber business in the region. They are sourced from a variety of top vineyards, including Chateau Beychevelle in the Medoc region.

Many carry distinctive markings and feature a number of differing finishing touches. Our customers put them to good use in a number of ways.

Rain water harvesting

Oak barrels make great water butts, particularly when compared alongside the green plastic models widely available. They are also kind to the environment and can offer storage capacities of 225 litres, allowing you to save on utility bills and avoid hose pipe bans.

Round Wood can carry out all the work required to convert a barrel. This involves drilling a hole for the down pipe and outlet and supplying a wooden tap. If required, diverter kits can then be fitted by the end user if they are concerned about over flow.

Planters

Not only do oak wine barrels look great in the garden as stand-alone features or tables, they also work brilliantly as planters.  Half barrels are best suited to this purpose and can also be used to harvest rain water.

Furniture and storage

Pubs and restaurants regularly use untouched barrels as tables, or décor.  They are also often seen in delicatessens for display stands. Weathering often adds to their appeal, although they can be finished with Danish Oil if a consistent finish is needed.  We even offer barrels with  table tops that slot straight onto full and half barrels, depending on the size of feature you need.

Round Wood Wins Best in Show

15 June 2013 in Home & Garden Features | Oak & Decking Products | Oak Framed Buildings

Round Wood of Mayfield beat off strong competition from over 120 other stallholders to land the prize for the best non-agricultural stand at this year’s Heathfield show.

Despite torrential rain during the set up phase, an impressive display was achieved. Whilst it showcased their full range of products - including flooring, decking, oak framed buildings and joinery – it was the selection of Home & Garden features on offer that really caught the eye.

First and foremost were two full size cast iron horse statues, indistinguishable to some from their real life counterparts in the parade ring. One even featured a saddle and a Round Wood branded Numnah and proved a popular photo point for visitors.

The Heathfield Show is the second largest country fair in the South of England and is attended by around 7000 people annually. Round Wood exhibits at several trade fairs throughout the country.

Criteria for judging at the Heathfield show was attractiveness and interest to the public and creative and effective use of stand layout.  Round Wood had previously won the best stand prize in 2009 and also a number of second places.
