Oak Framed Garage Photos

9 October 2019 in News | Oak & Decking Products | Oak Framed Buildings

A selection of images from a recent project featuring a 3-Bay oak framed garage supplied by Round Wood.

Over the last 12 months, Round Wood of Mayfield have supplied over 100 customers with oak framed garage kits from their bespoke Round Wood range.

These have included tradespeople and accomplished DIYers who have assembled the oak frames themselves, as well as clients who request a full-service solution from groundworks to roofing.

We asked this client if we could take photos of their completed project:

This local client required parking for 3 vehicles, along with additional storage.

The frame features; oak weatherboard and joinery, manufactured in Round Wood’s own workshop.

The client opted for a hipped roof with traditional catslide to rear.

A bit more about Round Wood's bespoke oak framed garage kits

Round Wood frames vary from one to four bays, are available with gable, hip or barn-end roofs and can include half-bays, aisles, and log-stores.

All buildings are traditionally crafted using curved braces and perfectly cut, oak pegged, mortise and tenon joints. Oak is often used as it contracts over time to provide further stability. However, there may be changes made depending on the required look and finish of the build once complete.

All frames are pre-assembled in the workshop prior to dispatch to ensure fit and ease of build.

Round Wood of Mayfield also supply standard oak framed buildings through their Chippy range should you require something simpler.

Our customers have been very busy recently, sending us lovely photos of our products in their new homes – here is a first batch for you to look, including oak framed buildings and hardwood decking.

An excellent image sent in by a very happy customer who purchased our Mischievous Meerkat as a unique birthday present for her partner. This statue is full of character and looks wonderful next to their colourful flower beds.

We love this shot of our adorable Puppy Dog statue making friends. This feature adds a warm and welcoming feel to any outdoor space.

This customer purchased a 2-Bay garage from our Chippy range and has found it to be the perfect addition to their home.

These structures are ideal for those looking to gain some extra storage or off-road parking.

Captured by a drone, this combination building is impressive yet practical and has provided the client with both a summer house and garage that is built to last.

These garden features have created the perfect spot for our customers to sit and enjoy Summer evenings in the garden. They found that their Howling Wolf statue looks particularly striking next to the flames from their handy fire pit.

Stunning photos of our largest Mild Steel Fire Pit. These burners are ideal for any event, especially if you’re looking to entertain guests and bring everyone together.

When you have a large space to work with, the benefits of our 1.2m size bowl are endless.

A brilliant example of what can be achieved using high quality, durable deck boards from our traditional Oak selection.

These boards blend beautifully into any outdoor space as they are extremely complimentary to their surroundings and will provide years of service.

We were thrilled to receive these images which show the eye-catching and contemporary look created by our smooth Balau decking.

The beautiful colouration offered by the boards is highly sought after due to the attractive, finishing effect it has on a garden/landscape.

One of our favourite types of customer photos to receive are those that show the flower pots from our vast range, all planted up. Our selection of Terracini planters are perfect for Summer gardening as they make a subtle addition to any garden courtesy of their neutral Terracotta colour.

A fantastic use of our Clayfibre Chelsea Box planters. Not only have they added that finishing touch to the customers porch, they have also created an attractive front entrance for their home.

Oak Framed Garage Kits by Round Wood of Mayfield

12 August 2019 in Oak Framed Buildings

If you're looking for a traditional oak framed garage, you may want to consider the range of 'Chippy' kits offered by Round Wood of Mayfield.

Finding the right frame to build an exciting new part of your home can be daunting but Chippy is a good place to start, as they offer set designs and give a good pricing indication.

They are also excellent value, available on short lead times and may be exempt from planning permission and building regulations.

The range comprises of 47 standard designs, from 1 to 4 bays, in a variety of roof profiles. Additional options of half-bays, log stores, and side aisles allow for most requirements to be catered for (although modifications are possible).

Prices start at just £2,395 for a 1-bay garage kit, including the 150mm oak post frame, as well as softwood studwork, rafters, and weatherboard.

All buildings are traditionally crafted using curved braces and perfectly cut oak pegged, mortise and tenon joints. Only green oak is used, which contracts over time to provide further stability. Frames are pre-assembled in Round Wood's workshop prior to dispatch to ensure fit and ease of build.

If you are looking to buy a 'Chippy' kit as part of a project and are a keen DIYer putting these kits together may be an appealing challenge. Alternatively, Round Wood of Mayfield's qualified team offer groundwork, assembly, and roofing services for your 1 to 4 bay garage.

If you're looking for bespoke frames, there is plenty of information and resources on Round Wood of Mayfield's website. however, if self-assembly is more for you then Chippy is the place to go!

Round Wood supply Chippy products nationwide from their base just outside of Mayfield. In addition to oak framed buildings, they offer hardwood decking, oak and walnut flooring, joinery products, and garden features.

Oak Link Building Project

25 February 2019 in Oak Framed Buildings

We recently completed an oak link structure on behalf of a very happy client, which saw the joining of the main 15th Century house to an adjacent barn building.

For this project Round Wood worked closely with the client to come up with the design and submitted the planning application.

The structure features a contemporary zinc roof finish supplied by Crown Leadworks based in Kent, which contrasts nicely with the traditional tiled roofs of the other two buildings either side.

Internally, the exposed brickwork and oak trusses give the space a timeless feel whilst adding character to the overall design. Having glass the whole length of the building both sides, makes it a lovely light and airy room.

The oak windows and doors were made by Round Wood’s in-house joinery shop.

ÖÖD House Launch At ‘The Landscape Show’

17 September 2018 in Home & Garden Features | Oak & Decking Products | Oak Framed Buildings

Find us exhibiting at stand CP36 at The Landscape Show, where our new, state-of-the-art ÖÖD house is making its UK debut.

Developed by Estonian company ÖÖD- and now exclusively distributed and assembled by ourselves in the UK - the 18/m2 mini dwelling was originally envisaged as a pop-up hotel room or Airbnb pad but can also be used as an office, den or even yoga space.

The first ÖÖD house in the UK, available to purchase for £55,000 plus VAT, is currently in situ at Lime Cross Nursery in East Sussex for potential customers to view, or even stay in before purchasing.

The stunning, mirrored buildings which feature a steel frame, insulated glass and thermally treated wood are already proving popular with clients. The standard interior offers a studio layout with a kitchenette and bathroom as well as heated floors and LED lighting.

Established as one of the UK’s leading industry events, The Landscape Show, which runs from Tuesday 18th to Wednesday 19th September in London, attracts garden designers, landscaping professionals, architects, and interior designers from around the world.

Also exhibiting alongside us is our sister company The Pot Company, a leading wholesaler to the garden industry. Not only does it have over 30 years of experience in supplying garden industry professionals, it boasts over 30 ranges of planters in its vast collection and 150,000 pots at its warehouse in the Kent countryside.

We will also be showcasing our new range of thermo-treated decking and cladding at the show. Thermotreated.co.uk is a new division of our company which distributes Thermory® products throughout the UK.

The Thermory® range consists of decking boards, cladding, flooring, shingles and bathroom tiles, all of which have been heated and steamed at temperatures of up to 215°C in computer-controlled kilns. This process toughens the timber, ensures a low moisture content and develops a dark, luxurious colour, resulting in an attractive board that is extremely stable, even when cut from softwoods. Crucially, Thermory® also boast outstanding environmental credentials; their processes are entirely chemical free and are only applied to responsibly harvested raw materials.

Director Jason Frost who will be attending the Landscape Show said: “It’s always a great pleasure to exhibit here and this year we are really excited to have some really innovative and interesting new products to showcase”.

Visit us on stand CP36 at the Landscape Show to check our new products or for any further information, head to www.roundwood.com.

The “ÖÖD” House Summer Launch

1 August 2018 in Oak Framed Buildings

A Summer party hosted by ourselves celebrated the addition

of a new stunning, mirrored building to our collection.

Providing a striking backdrop to the event, the glass-fronted ‘ÖÖD’ house  wowed our VIP guests, clients and staff as they enjoyed an evening of wine and canapés at Lime Cross Nursery in Herstmonceux. Exclusive paintings and sculptures were also on display as potential customers viewed the impressive ÖÖD house for the first time.

Developed by Estonian company ÖÖD- and now exclusively distributed and assembled by ourselves in the UK - the 18/m2 mini dwelling was originally envisaged by its creators as a pop-up hotel room, Airbnb pad or standalone guest accommodation for homeowners.

But keen buyers have already been using them in a number of creative ways from offices to teenage dens to yoga spaces.

The first ÖÖD house in the UK will now remain in situ at Lime Cross Nursery for potential customers to view, or even stay in before purchasing.

The buildings feature a steel frame, insulated glass and thermally treated wood. The standard interior offers a studio layout with a kitchenette and bathroom.

Typically ÖÖD houses are hooked up to water, sewage, and electricity supply, but off-grid capabilities are under development. The houses are now available to purchase for £55,000 plus VAT, with a limited supply for the first few months.

Managing Director Zac Soudain said:

“We are really excited to add ÖÖD Houses to our collection as their only UK distributor and perhaps unsurprisingly they’ve already proved very popular.

“It was clear at the launch that these glass-fronted houses really have the wow factor and could be used for many purposes from pop-up accommodation to garden rooms to offices… they were generating a lot of excitement.

“They blend beautifully into any setting courtesy of the insulated glazing that covers the front and side while the rear elevation features eco-friendly thermo treated ash cladding, which also cleverly conceals a service void.

“Where they really come into their own is in a rural or natural landscape such as where our example ÖÖD house can be viewed at Lime Cross Nursery – it has been kept there since the launch potential customers can try before they buy.”

Marketing material for The ÖÖD House is currently still being developed and will be available very soon. For any further information please contact the team on 01435 860 260 or send an email to sales@roundwood.com
