Oak Decking
Our oak boards can vary in colour from a very light brown through to a medium honey, giving a light, natural appearing deck that will blend sympathetically with most surroundings. All exterior Oak will develop surface splits, shakes and cracks over time - this is a natural occurrence and these can even close back up again with the changing seasons. Our Oak is a mixture of Rustic to Prime grade, allowing for cat paw, small, medium and large knots. Some boards may contain Sap and surface splits however this is structurally sound and within grade.
Board lengths
Whilst stock levels vary, our 125 x 22mm oak decking is generally available in lengths of 3m and 3.5m. Please contact us with any specific requirements you may have
Finish
The boards are planed smooth with eased long edges on both sides. Unfinished and ready for decking oil if desired. Any boards that are cut, should have a bees wax or end grain sealer applied to the ends.
Hardwood Decking Wrench
We recommend installing your decking boards with the hardwood decking wrench. This is a self-locking deck board straightening tool that can be used to hold bent boards straight whilst fasteners are installed. See associated products below. We also offer a hire service.
Oak Balustrade Components
In order for you to finish your oak deck to the highest possible standard, we offer a unique range of decking components, including Oak handrail, baserail, infill, posts and spindles. For more information, visit our Decking Components section. (Please note our Oak Balustrade is machined to order and will not be supplied pre-finished)
Fitting Methods
Simply screw through the face of the board into your sub-frame. Always Pilot Drill before fitting screws and drill 2mm oversize holes to allow for some expansion. We recommend 8-10mm gaps between the boards and 6mm at the ends of the boards. We recommend 400mm centre to centre joist spacing. Each hole can be plugged. We do not recommend that Hidden Fastening systems are used with oak decking.
