BATTEN CLADDING
BATTEN CLADDING
Batten cladding is a striking design feature that brings depth, insulation, and durability to any structure. Whether installed horizontally or vertically, the lengths of timber create a visually dynamic facade with excellent weather resistance.
Our batten cladding range is crafted from premium, sustainably sourced timbers – offering long-lasting performance, rich grain detail, and a finish that speaks of true craftsmanship.

The Natural Choice for Timber Batten Cladding
We specialise in premium batten cladding that combines durability, aesthetics, and environmental responsibility. Our range includes Thermory® thermo-treated Ash, Canadian Larch, Yellow Balau, and Ipe – each offering distinct benefits to suit your design and performance needs.

Hardwood, Softwood & Heat-Treated Batten Cladding
Our ash batten cladding is modified using only heat and steam, completely free from chemicals. This process strengthens stability and resistance to moisture, rot and insects, while deepening the timber’s colour to a rich, dark tone. It’s ideal for those seeking a high-end, low-maintenance finish with outstanding grain definition.
Canadian larch batten cladding offers a golden hue and is one of the hardest softwoods available, naturally resilient and well-suited to both hot and cold weather.
Balau and ipe batten cladding, two of the world’s most durable hardwoods, are chosen for their exceptional density, resistance to fungal attack, and striking colour variation.

Expert Guidance for Installation
Installing batten cladding is straightforward with the right preparation. Our boards are suitable for both horizontal and vertical mounting, giving you complete design flexibility.
- Ash battens are pre-grooved to work seamlessly with PaCS hidden fixing systems – perfect for a sleek, screw-free finish.
- For hardwoods like balau and ipe, we recommend stainless steel screws and pre-drilling to avoid splitting.
- Canadian larch battens, while softer, still benefits from careful spacing and high-quality fixings.
Timber is a natural material, so allow for small gaps between boards to accommodate slight expansion or contraction in changing climates. For best results, always seal cut ends with an end grain sealer and use a quality sub-frame.
If you need advice on sub-frame materials, fixings or installation technique, our expert team is just a call away (01435 867 072).
Maintenance & Longevity
We recommend sealing the cut ends of your boards with a wax-based end grain sealer to prevent moisture ingress and prolong life. While minor expansion or shrinkage can occur with seasonal changes, proper spacing ensures this is barely noticeable.
- Ash batten cladding requires minimal upkeep – its thermal modification makes it highly resistant to decay, with no chemical treatments needed.
- Balau and Ipe batten cladding, both dense hardwoods, are naturally durable but benefit from occasional oiling to preserve their colour and delay silvering. Left untreated, all species will gracefully weather to a silvery-grey patina over time.
Rather than flaws, expect your cladding to develop added character with age – rich tones mellow, textures deepen, and the timber settles naturally into its environment.

Sustainable Timber Batten Cladding for Modern Builds
Every piece of batten cladding reflects our commitment to sustainability. All our timbers are responsibly sourced from FSC-certified forests, ensuring sustainable harvesting practices that protect woodland ecosystems.
Across our workshop and mill, we strive for zero waste – timber offcuts are repurposed into fuel or reused, and our entire operation is powered in part by a biomass unit fed with reclaimed wood waste.
