Why Choose a Bespoke Oak Garage?
A bespoke oak garage allows you to design a building that fits your layout and intended use, without the compromises of a standard kit. Whether you need extra-wide bays, specific roof pitches, integrated storage, or a room above.
Built from structural oak using traditional mortise and tenon joinery, our garages are designed for long-term strength and stability. You can choose the number of bays, layout, roofline, doors, cladding, and more, all made to order and assembled with care.

Full Design Flexibility
Our team will work with whatever you have to shape a design that fits. You can share your own sketches, moodboards, or photos.
Weโll guide you through practical considerations too, such as oak beam spans, roof loading, and post placement to ensure your garage remains structurally sound. Design features like cruck frames or raised plates can help increase usable space upstairs, while dormers, catslides, door styles, and cladding types give you full control over appearance.
No matter how specific the brief, weโll help turn your ideas into a finished frame thatโs made to measure and last.

Whatโs Included
Each bespoke oak garage kit includes the full structural frame, curved braces, eaves, and tie beams, softwood studwork, pre-cut rafters, staddle stones, and treated featheredge cladding. All joints are numbered for straightforward assembly, and every frame is dry-fitted in our workshop before delivery to ensure an accurate fit.
Because every garage is made to order, we can adjust dimensions, roof pitch, cladding type, and joinery details to suit your design. From simple open bays to more complex layouts with additional features, your kit will be fully prepared to meet the needs of your build.
Prefer a Standard Design?
If you donโt need a fully bespoke solution, we offer a range of pre-designed oak garages in popular sizes and configurations. These include one-bay, two-bay, three-bay, and four-bay layouts, with or without rooms above, and more, all built from the same high-grade structural oak.

Build Support & Options
Our team can erect your bespoke oak garage frame on site, with nationwide coverage available for frame assembly. For projects near our East Sussex base, we also offer groundworks and roofing through our local team.
Each frame is dry-fitted before dispatch and supplied with pre-cut, numbered joints, and step-by-step instructions. This makes it straightforward for local contractors or capable self-builders to assemble the structure accurately. We also provide brickwork plans in advance to help coordinate groundwork and plinth preparation.

Planning & Regulations
Some oak garages may fall within permitted development rights, but many bespoke designs, especially those with rooms above, dormers, or non-standard rooflines, will require planning permission. Key limits include a maximum ridge height of 4m for dual-pitched roofs, eaves height of 2.5m, and positioning behind the principal elevation of the house.
Internal footprint and usage will also determine whether building regulations are needed, particularly for insulated or habitable spaces.

Timber Behaviour & Aftercare
Green oak changes as it seasons. Over time, youโll notice natural shrinkage, surface splits, and movement in the timber, all expected and part of the structural settling process. These changes actually increase the strength of the frame as the fibres tighten and harden.
Exposure to sunlight gradually turns the oak a silver-grey colour, a process many choose to embrace. If preferred, UV-protective finishes can slow this down. Tannin marks may also appear on nearby surfaces, especially lighter materials, but these are harmless and typically fade with time or can be cleaned if needed.
These characteristics are part of what gives a bespoke oak garage its enduring appeal.
