Treatex Colour Tones

29 May 2015

If you are considering fitting our engineered oak flooring boards, you may be interested to know they can be tinted using Treatex Hard Wax Oil.

Whilst the majority of our range of engineered flooring comes pre-finished with two coats of oil we always recommend that, once fitted, a layer of ‘Clear’ Treatex is then applied to seal the joints.  This is available in a matt or satin finish and will only slightly warm the colour of the timber, (as would any moisture).

The option exists, however, to create an entirely different aesthetic as Treatex Hard Wax oil is also available in a range of ‘Colour Tones’. This is applied before still using a final coat of the clear, (as this has enhanced protection qualities), in one or two layers, depending on the final colour required.

The Colour Tone Range

Antique Oak Treatex   Chocolate Treatex   Dark Oak Treatex   Ebony Treatex

Light Oak Treatex   Mahogany Treatex   Medium Oak Treatex   Pebble Grey Treatex

Slate Treatex   Spruce Treatex   Teak Treatex

Please note that colours on screen may not match those of the oil once on timber. We advise experimenting with samples first.

A ‘natural’ tone is also available, designed to replicate the exact colour of the original flooring. This is achieved by the addition of white pigments that compensate for the slight warming caused by the final layer of clear oil.

Whatever look you decide on, Treatex offers outstanding protection for floors, skirting and worktops. It has been developed over 40 years and is often used in high footfall, commercial environments.

Treatex Hard Wax Oil is manufactured on a base of natural sustainable raw materials: jojoba oil, linseed oil, sunflower oil, beeswax, candelilla wax and carnauba wax. It is easy to apply, dries quickly and is simple to maintain as individual areas of an oiled finish can be treated, (unlike a lacquered finish).

Treatex can of course also be used with our unfinished engineered flooring boards. We would recommned two coats of a colour tone, followed by two coats of clear hard wax oil.

Why choose Engineered Flooring

4 April 2015

We take a look why engineered flooring boards are now far more popular than their traditional, solid equivalents.

Stability benefits

Our engineered flooring has a cross bonded multi-ply backing, which adds strength and durability to the oak veneer and overall floorboard. This engineered flooring can be fitted straight from the pack, so there is no need to acclimatise it for weeks before laying. Once laid you can add a tint or clear oil to create the required overall finish, and would be hard pushed to distinguish the difference between engineered and solid flooring.

Use with underfloor heating

As above, not only does the cross bonded multi-ply backing provide strength, but additionally the layers are easier for the heat to penetrate and for you to feel the benefit. Timber has a naturally warmer feel than other flooring compatible with underfloor heating such as tiles, adding to the benefit.

Long lasting

There are countless reasons why engineered flooring is the preference for many, including the ability to “patch up” scratches. This can be done by simply sanding the area and re-applying treated hard wax oil, unlike laminate or tile where only a replacement tile or board would be sufficient. We also provide a treatex oil hardener to toughen the surface, perfect for high traffic areas.

Adaptable with changing tastes

When buying a floor, we all expect it to last the test of time. The great advantage of engineered oak and walnut flooring is the ability to stain the timber when styles and tastes change, allowing you to renovate a room by simply re-oiling your floor.

Walnut Engineered Flooring - Back in stock

10 February 2015

Our engineered walnut flooring, ideal for those looking to achieve a luxurious, contemporary finish, is now back in stock.  With its warm rich tones and a cross bonded backing for outstanding stability, it has proved extremely popular in both commercial and residential properties.

Our range comprises two board thicknesses. A 189mm x 21mm for structural purposes and a 189mm x 15mm with a slightly thinner wear layer, (4mm as opposed to 6mm).

The boards have been pre-finished with two coats of hard wax oil, saving you both time and fitting costs. We recommend that once laid an additional layer of protection is added using Treatex Hard Wax Oil, which will also help seal the joints.

Cedar Shingles & Ridge Tiles

4 November 2014

Our Cedar shingles continue to prove a popular choice of roof covering given their warm, rich colours and natural, sweet smell.

The shingles we offer are blue label certified and are manufactured by Olympic Cedar Products, a member of the Cedar Shake & Shingle Bureau. Member mills have committed to consistent quality through independent third-party inspections by accredited.

As Cedar is very rich in oils, it is extremely resilient to the effects of weathering and requires no treatment.

14mm Engineered Oak Flooring

16 October 2014

We have a special offer on the 148 x 14mm and 187 x 14mm engineered oak flooring that we recently added to our range. Both are brushed and oiled.

Both Boards are ready to fit, although we recommend a final coat of Treatex Harwax Oil once the oak floor is down. As with all engineered oak flooring, these boards are suitable for use with underfloor heating. The 14mm thickness allows the heat to penetrate very quickly, ensuing you feel the benefit.

The other major benefit of engineered flooring is that it combines the luxurious look and feel of solid boards, but has far more stability, courtesy of the cross-bonded backing.

148 x 14mm Brushed and Oiled Engineered Oak Flooring - £24.50m2

187 x 14mm Brushed and Oiled Engineered Oak Flooring - £26.50m2

Discounts on Heveatech Engineered Decking

29 August 2014

As an introductory promotion, we are offering a 10% discount on the eco-friendly Heveatech Engineered Decking Boards we exclusively supply.

Heveatech Decking

Our 145 x 20mm FSC Certified Heveatech decking has a list price of £44.50/m2, but is currently available at £40.05/m2. If you are looking for a wider board, the 195 x 20mm Heveatech Decking is now on offer at £43.65, reduced from £48.50/m2.

Heveatech is proving to be a popular innovation in the decking market. Unlike other environmentally friendly options it boasts an authentic, natural appearance, is exceedingly durable and is no harder on the pocket than traditional hardwood decking boards.

The timber used for Heveatech is cut from the ‘Hevea Brasiliensis,’ better known as the ‘Rubber Tree’. This species has a typical rubber or latex producing lifespan of 25-30 years, after which they have historically been felled and used for firewood, or even discarded.

Instead, this timber is now cut into small layers, which are bonded together under extreme compression and finished with a solid veneer.  The result is an engineered, yet natural, decking board with a uniform moisture content.

The stability this provides is highly sought after, as even the toughest standard decking boards can be subject to movement. It also means that Heveatech is ideal for use with hidden fastenings, such as the Archideck and Sharkstooth systems Round Wood supply. Both allow your deck to be displayed to its full potential by cutting out the need for unsightly face screws.

Heveatech boards are supplied with a Danish finish one side, reeded on the other. Typical lengths are 3m, 4m and 4.9m.  Heveatech joists are also available.

Radiata pine decking

8 August 2014

We are now offering Radiata pine decking boards, supplied through an FSC accredited source.

The boards are cut from 'Radiata Pine' tree, (also known as Pinus Radiata, Insignis Pine and Monterey Pine), an unusually dense softwood species native to the Americas. As it is relatively easy to cultivate in moderate climates it has been introduced to many other regions, including Australasia, where a number of well-respected plantations now exist. Our decking is from New Zealand, which features the largest plantation of any species of timber in the world.

Radiate Pine Decking

The light, smooth aesthetic offered by the boards is well suited to contemporary properties. They look particulalry good on a roof deck or terrace.

Radiata pine decking is available in generous 4.8m lengths and offered in smooth/reeded and smooth/grooved profiles. It is available at just £22/m2.
